IT’S ABOUT RELATIONSHIP

When reading this statement, ‘Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God,’ it is almost automatic to interpret it as a performance and reward proposition. That throws us so far off the mark. This beatitude is not prescriptive or regulatory in order to gain a reward but descriptive or explanatory of relationship. Jesus came from heaven to this external soil to establish relationships of grace, not to create a system of rewards. This statement is about you and me fully expecting to see God and therefore loving the LORD so much that we want to live life and choose to live with a heart so pure that it generates natural and unprompted holy behaviour. This is all about relationship because the relationship you have with God defines who you are.
