THE THREE-PERSONAL GOD CREATED US

On the sixth day God made our kind, our species, and that description is found in Genesis 1:26-27. Then God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness … so God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.’”

We only know of two persons at that point in the narrative, God and the Spirit, but John’s gospel proves to be supplemental because John wrote, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. … And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us and we have seen his glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:1-4, 14 And now we know that there are three persons who comprise one God. This Trinitarian understanding of God starts as early as Genesis one.

It’s an astounding thing that to these three persons who exist before time, there is now added this human creature. This is all about relationship because the relationship you have with God defines who you are.
